About this Role

Volunteers in education settings help to improve the learning experience, and often have an impact even after they have left. They aren't accountable for the outcomes of the children they work with in the same way that teachers are, meaning that their roles can offer a way to work in education without the pressure of a permanent job.

This application is for volunteer positions for pupils in school (16-18), or students requiring a work placement as part of a course of study.

Application Process

1. Apply via our online application form using the 'Apply for Job' button below.

2. You will need to complete:

General Details, Work Eligibility,

Secondary/Further Education (at least one entry),

References,

School pupils: please give the name and email addresses of your Form Tutor and your Head of Year.

FE Students: please give the name and email address of your Course Tutor (or course admin if still applying) AND the full details of one other person who we can contact and is prepared to give you a character reference

Equal Opportunities Monitoring,

Personal Statement and Declaration.

This information is required in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024. (Please see document  below for shorter applications)

The Auriga Academy Trust and its schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful application will be required to undertake and Enhanced DBS Check with a check of the DBS Barred List.

The Auriga Academy Trust would like all candidates to answer specific questions for the personal statement section. For reference, here is a preview of the questions/headings:

  1. As you are a student - please tell us the name, postal address and telephone number of your educational establishment.
  2. Please tell us the course you are currently undertaking, or enrolling to undertake, e.g. Y10 at school, NVQ in childcare, PGCE
  3. Please tell us with WHICH YEAR GROUPS your course requires you to work (or 'any' if this is not a requirement) and WHICH DAYS OF THE WEEK your placement will be expecting you to be with us
  4. Please complete this question if you are enrolled on a course in a further or higher educational establishment (not a school). Please note that we will expect the FE or HE establishment to undertake an enhanced DBS with Barred List Checks as part of their admissions process. Please confirm that your enhanced DBS check is underway, or completed (you will not be able to start until it has). We require a Letter of Assurance from your establishment to assure us that these checks are complete.
  5. In one paragraph, please tell us why you want to do your work experience in our school.
  6. In one paragraph, please tell us what skills you bring to offer.
