The
Board of Trustees of Wembley Multi-Academy Trust (WMAT) is
looking for an outstanding and committed Deputy Headteacher. As an expanding MAT we
are always looking to build our leadership capacity. Currently we are looking
for individuals who are flexible and are able to take on senior leadership
responsibilities. Depending on the expertise of the successful candidate, we
are seeking to appoint a pastoral specialist with a track record or securing
outstanding outcomes for students and leading a culture of high standards.
The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to build upon their current
expertise and develop their leadership in a range of other areas. WMAT
is an established beacon of excellence (with two outstanding schools among the
highest performing in the country). The successful candidate will be committed
to enhancing all aspects of students’ lives and making a real difference to
students’ life chances.
They will have a proven track record of improvement
at a whole-school level. They will be highly analytical, emotionally astute and
able to deploy appropriate strategies to maximise impact. The successful
candidate will be able to think and act strategically, be cognisant of the
broader picture, whilst fully understanding the implications of finer details.

Specific
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership of
Behaviour, Attitudes and Culture
- ·
To lead the strategic vision for Behaviour and
Attitudes, creating a positive, inclusive and highly supportive environment
where all pupils, without exception, can thrive.
- ·
To secure consistently high standards of
behaviour, conduct and attitudes to learning, ensuring that pupils are
motivated, resilient and committed to excellence.
- ·
To ensure pupils are explicitly taught how to
learn and how to behave in line with the College’s highest expectations.
- · To develop and embed systems that measure and
evaluate pupil outcomes in behaviour, attitudes, personal development and
citizenship, ensuring students are responsible, respectful and well prepared
for their next steps.
- ·
To foster a culture where bullying, peer-on-peer
abuse and discrimination are not tolerated, and where concerns are addressed
swiftly, robustly and effectively, with meticulous record-keeping on CPOMS and
SIMS.
- ·
To ensure that reflection spaces (including
202/203) are calm, purposeful and academic environments that secure meaningful
behaviour improvement.
Attendance and Inclusion
- ·
To lead the whole-College attendance strategy,
working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to secure
sustained improvements in attendance and punctuality.
- ·
To line manage the Attendance Officer and ensure
rigorous monitoring, intervention and impact evaluation.
- ·
To lead on managed moves, alternative provision
and suspensions, ensuring that all statutory guidance is followed and that
decisions are lawful, proportionate and in the best interests of the College
community.
- ·
To oversee Year Leader Reports, Pre-PSPs and
PSPs, ensuring appropriate escalation and de-escalation processes that secure
improved outcomes for pupils.
Leadership and Line Management
- ·
To line manage Year Leaders and Assistant
Headteachers within the Behaviour & Attitudes team, developing them into
highly effective and impactful leaders.
- ·
To plan, delegate, support and evaluate the work
of leaders within the Behaviour & Attitudes team, ensuring clarity of
accountability, responsibilities and performance expectations.
- ·
To ensure all staff within areas of
responsibility contribute fully to long-, medium- and short-term objectives
that secure outstanding outcomes for students.
- ·
To design, implement and quality assure a robust
staff duty system before, during and after the school day, ensuring full
compliance and visibility.
Personal Development,
Character and Community
- ·
To work collaboratively with staff, students and
parents to embed Character Education and WMAT values, underpinning the
College’s mission of “Achievement for All.”
- ·
To develop effective partnerships with parents
and the wider community to enhance engagement, attendance, personal development
and achievement.
- ·
To train and empower Tutor Teams to raise
standards in behaviour, uniform, equipment and attendance, ensuring consistency
across the College.
Strategy, Policy and Quality
Assurance
- ·
To provide inspiring and purposeful leadership
across all aspects of pastoral provision.
- ·
To implement, monitor and evaluate the impact of
strategic priorities, ensuring continuous improvement in standards, achievement
and outcomes.
- ·
To ensure that policies and practices align with
the College’s vision and values and comply with local and national
requirements.
- ·
To monitor, review and act upon the impact of
policies, priorities and whole-Academy objectives.
Qualifications
& Experience
We are looking for a leader with a successful track record of
school improvement. You will have:
- ·
Qualified Teacher Status, Degree, further
relevant professional studies.
- ·
A willingness to undertake an NPQ or
relevant/equivalent training.
- ·
Values that align with WMAT.
- ·
An
understanding of what it takes to work with others and help lead one of the
highest achieving schools in the country.
- ·
A track record of securing tangible success and
outstanding outcomes.
- ·
The technical ability and behavioural traits that
secure the confidence of all stakeholders.
- ·
Experience of developing a culture of learning
and continuous improvement of staff and students.
- ·
Strong monitoring and evaluation skills.
- ·
Thorough knowledge and understanding of current
developments and the latest educational research (such as curriculum
development and how pupils learn).
- ·
An ability to set up systems and processes to
ensure departmental improvement.
- ·
An ability to understand people’s individual
strengths, harness and develop them.
- ·
A commitment to learning and leading with
humility.
