About this Role
Are you
leaving school or college and looking for the first step towards a professional
career in finance?
Learners’ Trust is looking for a motivated and ambitious Finance Assistant Apprentice to join our friendly and experienced central finance team.
This is more than a short-term apprenticeship. It is a permanent role and the beginning of a structured development pathway designed to grow our future management accountants.
You will complete the Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship through Chesterfield College, attending college for one day each week. The rest of your time will be spent gaining practical experience within our central finance team.
Working alongside experienced finance professionals, you will learn how to process invoices, reconcile accounts, support budget monitoring, produce reports and respond to queries from schools and suppliers. As your knowledge and confidence develop, you will gain exposure to management accounts, audit, procurement and financial reporting across the Trust.
No previous finance or office experience is required. We are looking for someone who:
• enjoys
working with numbers
• is
organised and pays attention to detail
• is
comfortable using Microsoft Excel and Office
•
communicates clearly and professionally
• is willing
to learn, ask questions and accept feedback
• is
helpful, reliable and able to work as part of a team.
Customer service or office experience would be helpful but is not essential.
You will need GCSE English and mathematics at grade 4/C or above, or be willing and able to complete the required Functional Skills qualifications.
The role is based at our headquarters in Eckington. Travel between Trust schools will be required, and applicants must hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
In return, you will receive:
• a
recognised accounting apprenticeship
• one day
each week attending Chesterfield College
• support
and mentoring from an experienced Finance Business Partner
•
progression to the next stage of your accounting qualification following
successful completion
• membership
of the Local Government Pension Scheme
• annual
leave entitlement
•
reimbursement of approved business mileage
• access to
Trust wellbeing benefits.
Learners’ Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and the usual pre-employment checks.
