About this Role

Every young person deserves a plan for what comes next.  Across our campuses in Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Wokingham, we work with young people with SEMH, ASC and EBSNA needs who have big ambitions for their future, and we're determined to help them get there.  We're looking for a Trust Careers and Employability Lead to build a careers offer that matches that ambition: hitting every Gatsby Benchmark but more importantly, opening real doors into work, training and independence.

As Trust Careers and Employability Lead you will:

      • Lead a Trust-wide careers and employability strategy, from curriculum through to statutory compliance

      •  Drive all eight Gatsby Benchmarks across every campus, proving it through Compass+

        • Build real employer relationships, work experience and supported internship routes tailored to SEND

          •  Deliver workshops and 1:1s directly with young people, not just overseeing from a distance

            • Grow a live database of employer and provider contacts, backed by a proper careers newsletter
            • Report outcomes to Executive Leaders, Trustees and Governors that show real impact

            What you'll bring:

            • A track record of leading careers, employability or transition programmes in a school setting
            • Detailed working knowledge of the Gatsby Benchmarks and statutory careers guidance
            • A genuine understanding of SEND-related transition planning, not just policy knowledge
            • The negotiating skill to bring employers on board, and the organisation to keep them there
            • Resilience, creativity and a solution-focused approach when the straightforward route isn't there

            What we offer:

            • Term time only working, with school holidays off
            • Local Government Pension Scheme
            • A genuine Trust-wide remit, not confined to one campus
            • CPD and training funded to develop your specialism
            • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support

Tours of the campus are strongly encourage, we'd genuinely rather you visited a campus before you apply than took our word for it.  Please contact Sarah Stevens on the contact details below to arrange a visit, no pressure, no obligation.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. We actively promote a culture where everyone is treated fairly and has the opportunity to thrive.

Chiltern Way is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.  Chiltern Way Academy will comply with its obligations under the GDPR and other data protection legislation.
