About this Role

Positions available: Chair, Vice Chair and Co-opted

About the role: Our school governance volunteers play a key strategic role in aligning with our Board of Trustees, acting as the 'custodians of culture' and the 'caretakers of promoting and celebrating their school’s uniqueness.' By bringing your skillset and expertise into a collaborative environment, working closely with the school's senior leaders, we will will continue transforming young lives in our thriving community.

Who are we looking for: Individuals with a passion for making a difference! You do not need prior educational or governance experience. We are particularly interested in anyone who has experience in both business functions, such as: HR, operational management (including health and safety), finance and IT; as well as people in the education sector.

About Batley Multi Academy Trust: Our Trust vision is to ensure that every young person, regardless of their background or starting point, receives a first-class education, coupled with high-quality care, guidance and support. We ensure that no child is left behind. Ever.

We are a values driven Trust, comprising eight schools in our Trust family right at the very heart of the Batley Community. Effective communication with our parents/carers and local community is so important to us, as well as:

  • Adopting child-centred approaches
  • Working collaboratively to secure the best learning experiences
  • Ensuring all of our young people achieve exceptional outcomes
  • Raising the aspirations and ambitions of our learners and colleagues
  • Developing resilience of all young people and colleagues
  • Being forward-thinking and inclusive by opening doors for everyone in our community
  • Creating dynamic and reflective learning environments
  • Recognising that we have more in common than that which divides us

Time commitment: five face-to-face meetings per academic year (approximately every two months), statutory training and optional visits to our Trust family of schools.

Why join us? This is a great opportunity to develop your own personal and professional skills whilst shaping our future. We also offer many non-compulsory and free networking opportunities to all of our governance volunteering team throughout the year.
