About this Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Governance Clerk to support our Board of Trustees as we transition into a Multi‑Academy Trust. This is a pivotal period for the organisation, and the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring strong, compliant, and well‑structured governance throughout the transition.

Following the move into the MAT, the role will continue by providing professional clerking support to the School Academy Local Governing Body, ensuring continuity, high‑quality administration, and effective oversight at local level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional clerking services to the Board of Trustees during the MAT transition
  • Support the Chair and senior leaders with agenda planning, meeting coordination, and document circulation
  • Attend and minute meetings (typically 1.5–2 hours) to a high professional standard
  • Advise on governance procedure, compliance, and statutory requirements
  • Maintain accurate records, including membership, attendance, declarations of interest, and policy schedules
  • Provide ongoing clerking support to the Local Governing Body post‑transition

Working Arrangements

  • Meetings are currently held remotely, with occasional face‑to‑face meetings as required
  • Flexible working pattern, with preparation and minute‑writing completed remotely
  • Evening meetings may be required

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Has proven experience in academy or trust‑level governance clerking
  • Is confident advising trustees and governors on procedure and compliance
  • Works with accuracy, discretion, and excellent organisational skills
  • Can manage deadlines and produce high‑quality minutes
  • Is adaptable and able to support governance through organisational change
