About this Role

John Rankin Schools is seeking to appoint Unqualified Teachers to plan, resource and deliver effective lessons across the allocated timetable, under the direction of the Curriculum Leader and senior colleagues. The role will support curriculum delivery, effective tutor provision and strong outcomes for students within a safe, purposeful and ambitious learning environment. The postholder will be deployed across allocated classes and tutor groups and may also provide lesson cover and wider support in line with school policy.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will plan and prepare effective lessons in line with Trust and school schemes of work and assessment, support students to engage positively in their learning and contribute to strong progress and attainment for all students taught. The role includes using assessment information to inform planning, providing feedback, supporting students in preparing for assessments and examinations, and maintaining regular communication with students and parents regarding progress and strategies for improvement.

The postholder will maintain high standards of behaviour for learning and student conduct, implement Trust policies, record safeguarding and health and safety concerns within required timescales, and help create a positive, nurturing and open learning environment. They will act as a form tutor where required, support pastoral provision, contribute to extra-curricular and whole school events, and work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals in and beyond the school.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a good quality degree, relevant subject qualification or equivalent experience, alongside secure subject knowledge relevant to the curriculum area taught. They will be committed to professional development and training, including working towards Qualified Teacher Status where required. They will be able to devise and implement teaching strategies that promote learning, engagement and enjoyment, communicate clearly and appropriately, establish positive professional relationships and support all students to achieve their potential.

We are looking for someone who can act as a positive role model for students, manage behaviour effectively, use ICT to support learning and become fully involved in the life of the school. The successful candidate will share the values of the school and the wider Maiden Erlegh Trust and will be committed to safeguarding, equality and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The role requires suitability to work with children and enhanced DBS clearance.
