About this Role

At St Laurence Church Infant School, love is at the heart of everything we do — and lunchtime is no exception. We are looking for a kind, calm and enthusiastic person to join our team as a Lunchtime Supervisor, covering maternity leave.

As an infant school working with children from Reception through to Year 2, we know that feeling safe, happy and connected at lunchtime is just as important as any lesson. Our children thrive when they are surrounded by warm, attentive adults who take time to know them — and that’s exactly the kind of person we’re hoping to find.

About the Role

In this role you will:

Supervise pupils in the dining hall and on the playground, keeping a close and caring eye on our youngest learners

Support children with mealtimes, helping to build independence, confidence and positive social skills

Encourage and model our school values — nurturing a lunchtime environment where every child feels included and valued

Guide children in following routines and expectations with patience, positivity and consistency

Work as part of a close-knit team to ensure lunchtime runs smoothly and safely for all pupils

Respond promptly and calmly to any concerns or incidents, reporting to the appropriate member of staff

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will:

Be warm, patient and genuinely interested in children’s wellbeing and development

Build positive, trusting relationships with young children quickly and naturally

Be a calm and reliable presence, particularly in busy or challenging moments

Share our commitment to inclusion, ensuring every child feels seen and cared for

Understand and actively support the school’s safeguarding responsibilities

Work well as part of a team, contributing to the happy, caring community we have built

Speak fluent English in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016

Previous experience with young children is desirable but not essential — a genuine enthusiasm for working with infants and a kind, caring nature are what we value most.

What We Offer

A genuinely warm and welcoming school community guided by the values of aspiration, wisdom and compassion

A committed and supportive team where staff wellbeing is taken seriously

Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme

The chance to be part of a school that recently joined the Fioretti Trust family — a time of exciting growth and development

       A comprehensive wellbeing package

The opportunity to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of young children every day
