About this Role

Ripley Junior School is seeking a highly skilled and proactive School Business Manager to play a pivotal role in the leadership and operational life of our school.

This is a strategic and hands-on role, central to ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the school. You will oversee finance, administration, premises, and compliance, working closely with the Headteacher, leadership team, and Governing Body to ensure resources are used effectively to support high-quality education aligned with our vision and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on financial management, including budgeting, monitoring expenditure, and financial reporting

  • Manage key administrative systems, including admissions, HR processes, and compliance with safeguarding and data protection requirements

  • Lead and develop the administrative team, ensuring high-quality support across the school

  • Coordinate procurement and contract management, securing best value and ensuring compliance with school policies

  • Support the Headteacher and Governing Body with strategic planning and school improvement priorities

  • Oversee premises management, including health and safety, site management, and facilities

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who brings both expertise and values to their work. You will have:

  • Proven experience in school business management or a similar role within an educational setting

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and financial systems

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including safeguarding, data protection, and health and safety

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with staff, parents, governors, and external partners

  • A proactive, flexible approach, with a genuine commitment to the ethos and values of the school
