About this Role

At Castlebridge School we provide a creative and nurturing space for 30 pupils aged 7 - 16. Primarily we support those with autism who have faced challenges in mainstream education and may have developed strategies of school/ learning avoidance. We are a proud member off the Special Partnership Trust, a dynamic collaboration of specialist provisions throughout the South-West, focused on fostering excellence in education for all pupils, no matter what their challenge.

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll become part of a community that is ambitious, values-driven, and deeply committed to improving the lives of every learner in our care. If you have experience working with children who have austism spectrum disorder (ASD) or complex behavioural needs, we would love to hear from you.

This is more than a supporting role - it's an opportunity to make a genuine difference every single day.

What you'll do:

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teaching staff to support pupils academically, socially, physically and emotionally. You will:

  • Build positive, supportive relationships that help pupils grow in confidence, independence and self-esteem.
  • Assist with the delivery of an ambitious, specialist curriculum tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide hands-on support for pupils with a wide range of learning, physical and behavioural needs
  • Use IT systems to record and track information
  • Ensure learning environments are welcoming, organised and well-resourced.
  • Play an active role in breaktime supervision, educational visits and school events.

No two days are the same - but every day is rewarding.

Who we're looking for:

You'll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Compassionate, patient and resilient with a positive outlook.
  • Motivated to support pupils with diverse and complex needs
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A good communicator who enjoys helping others
  • Willing to learn, with confidence to undergo training for specialist tasks
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality and pupil wellbeing

What you'll bring

  • Experience working with children with SEN in an educational and/ or care setting
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is desirable
  • GCSEs (A-C) in English and Maths, or working towards equivalent
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting pupils
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to pupils welfare
  • Ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Disability Discrimination Act.

Why join the Special Partnership Trust?

When you join us, you become part of a Trust that dares to be different, invests in its staff and puts pupils at the heart of every decision.

We are:

  • Ambitious - always raising the bar
  • Aspirational - believing in what's possible
  • Purposeful - driven by a clear mission
  • Genuine and Inclusive - valuing every voice
  • Energetic and Specialist - bringing passion and expertise to SEN Education
