About this Role

About Mill Water School

Mill Water is part of the Special Partnership Trust, an extraordinary education Trust who are redefining Special Educational Needs in the Southwest. Our mission is clear: to be a force for good in SEN and make a positive difference to people's lives. We challenge conventions, pioneer excellence, and work tirelessly to create better tomorrows for our young people and their families.

Mill Water School is an all-age special school for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, including Autism, located in the grounds of Bicton College, East Devon. Our beautiful, rural surroundings provide unrivalled opportunities for outdoor learning.

From EYFS through to Post 16, our pupils access a bespoke learning and communication package to challenge their education progress, working in partnership with multi-agency professionals and families.

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed people to join our school. A successful candidate will need to be tolerant, and understanding, show care and concern whilst being fair and consistent.  They must be resilient and committed to improving outcomes for pupils and a good sense of humour is essential.

We’re looking for people who are energetic and enthusiastic to become one of our SEN Teaching Assistants and join our class teams. Ideally, you will have experience working with pupils with SEND but the right personal qualities can be as important.

Experience in supporting children's learning and recording holistic achievements is desirable.  An ability to work positively within a team of classroom assistants is essential in order to maximise pupil learning and contribute to an inspiring learning environment.

We offer comprehensive induction training, as well as ongoing professional development.

This role requires the ability to fulfill all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Special Partnership Trust is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

Our Total Reward Offer:

The Special Partnership Trust recognises the importance of developing a properly implemented People Strategy to underpin the overall strategic aims of the Trust.

Our People Strategy is designed to help us attract prospective high calibre candidates, as well as drive engagement, productivity and retention of our high performing and high potential employees. It reflects our belief in putting our people first. This does not mean putting our learners second. It is based on the philosophy that if we create a positive and rewarding work environment, if our staff feel motivated, well managed and well supported, they in turn will provide the best possible outcome for our learners.

We recognise that our total reward offer, has got to consist of more than just money. We seek to provide our staff with a diverse range of benefits that support their day to day needs both at work and outside of work. These include generous leave entitlements and pension scheme as well as access to health/wellbeing tools, training & development, career pathways and opportunities to ensure they feel valued.
