About this Role

Job Title: Teacher of Humanities Maternity Cover

  • Montpelier High School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and inspiring Teacher of Humanities (History and Religious Studies) to join our dedicated team on a maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner to teach across the Humanities curriculum and make a real contribution to a vibrant and ambitious school community.
  • We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about their subject, committed to high standards, and able to inspire curiosity, critical thinking and confidence in young people. The successful candidate will join a supportive faculty with a strong collaborative culture and a shared commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for all students.
  • There is also the possibility of teaching A Level Sociology and/or Psychology for a suitably qualified candidate, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience across Key Stages 4 and 5.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive Humanities lessons that promote curiosity, critical thinking and academic excellence.
  • Create a supportive classroom environment aligned to the school's values of kindness, hard work and courage.
  • Assess, track and monitor student progress, providing targeted feedback to ensure all learners succeed.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners, including SEND and disadvantaged students.

 

Pay range: 

  • M1 - M3 - £32,916.00 - £37,101.00
  • Full Time, Fixed Term
  • Maternity Cover (approx. 9 months)

 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Strong subject knowledge of History and Religious Education
  • Excellent classroom management 
  • Skilled in planning differentiated lessons
