About this Role

Join Our Team

Are you practical, proactive and take pride in maintaining safe, welcoming environments? We're looking for a committed Estates Assistant to join our Estates Team and play a vital role in ensuring our school remains a safe, clean and inspiring place for students, staff and visitors.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll be part of a supportive team responsible for maintaining the school buildings and grounds, supporting school events, overseeing site security and helping to create an outstanding environment for learning.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Estates Assistant, you'll:

  • Carry out general maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, glazing and grounds maintenance.
  • Help keep the school site clean, safe and well-presented both inside and outside.
  • Undertake routine compliance checks, including fire safety, Legionella and building inspections.
  • Open and secure the school site, acting as a key holder and responding to emergency call-outs when required.
  • Set up rooms for exams, events and community lettings.
  • Work alongside contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Assist with deliveries, furniture moves and other operational tasks across the school.
  • Support the Estates Team during adverse weather and emergency situations.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has strong practical maintenance and DIY skills.
  • Is reliable, flexible and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can prioritise workloads and adapt to changing demands.
  • Is physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual handling tasks.
  • Has basic IT skills and can complete online records and inspections.
  • Takes pride in delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety and safeguarding within a school environment.

Working Pattern

This is a full-time, year-round position (37 hours per week).

The role operates on a shift pattern covering approximately 6:00am to 9:00pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend working to support school events and provide absence cover.

Why Join Us?

You'll become part of a friendly and dedicated team committed to providing an excellent learning environment. We offer:

  • A varied and rewarding role where your work makes a real difference every day.
  • Opportunities for training and professional development.
  • A supportive working environment.
  • Competitive salary with shift allowance.
  • The opportunity to contribute to the wider life of a thriving school community.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
