We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, providing targeted support for a visually impaired student within the classroom.

In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff to ensure the student can fully access the curriculum. A key part of your responsibilities will include preparing and adapting learning materials into accessible formats, such as braille, large print, and other appropriate resources, enabling the student to engage confidently in lessons.

You will support the student both academically and pastorally, promoting independence, inclusion, and participation in all aspects of school life.

In addition, you may work with other students who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), supporting a range of additional needs. Flexibility, patience, and a proactive approach are essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support for a visually impaired student
  • Adapt and prepare learning materials into braille and other accessible formats
  • Liaise with teachers to ensure lessons are inclusive and accessible
  • Support the student’s social and emotional development
  • Assist other students with EHCPs as required

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education
  • Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Be willing to learn or have experience in braille and assistive technologies (training can be provided)
  • Work effectively as part of a team

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ educational experiences and outcomes.
