About this Role

We are excited to recruit a Teaching Assistant for Whipman Woods Flying High Academy. The Teaching Assistant will form part of a brand-new team working together to deliver an exceptional school that we can all be proud of. Being a part of a new school provides a unique opportunity to have a direct influence on shaping and establishing a vision for a brand-new school.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the staff that make up the team at Whipman Woods Flying High Academy.

Whipman Woods Flying High Academy opened its doors to children and the community in September 2024, as the third new school that Flying High has opened, following on from the significant success of Hucknall Flying High Academy and Rivendell Flying High Academy.  Flying High is a partnership of 34 primary schools, with a significant track record of success. Collectively we aim to impact social change, by making every day count for every child and every community. At the heart of our success is a commitment to working together to deliver the very best for our children and to enable each member of staff to maximise their potential.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is interested in education and impacting on the lives of children.
  • Is creative, relentlessly positive and a good team player
  • Is determined to make every day count
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Can work effectively with and without direction.
  • Has enthusiasm, energy, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Has an eye for detail.
  • Forms positive professional relationships with adults and children
  • Is willing to roll up their sleeves up and get stuck in.

Your core duties will be:

  • Working with a team to deliver high quality provision for specific children in our school
  • Prepare the classroom for the next day’s learning
  • Supervise and support children during lessons and over lunchtime
  • Encouraging the children to positively interact with others and engage in lessons led by the teacher.
  • Supporting the children’s academic, physical and emotional well-being
  • Supporting and nurturing the children to become the best versions of themselves and ready for the next stage of their education
  • Being aware of pupil barriers to learning, progress, achievements and able to adapt activities as discussed with the class teacher.
  • Supporting the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and supporting the needs of the children.

Early application is strongly encouraged as we reserve the right to close the advert ahead of the closing date.

We welcome applications from both internal and external candidates. Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and post-holders to share this commitment. We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applicants. Applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
