Horley Infant School is seeking a caring, nurturing and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone who is child-centred, enjoys working with children under seven, and is passionate about supporting learning and development. From September 2026, the role will be based in Reception.
We once came across a “dictionary definition” of a Teaching Assistant that perfectly captures the role:
“The behind-the-scenes superhero in every classroom – multitasking educational rockstars who inspire and encourage. They help with pencil grips, explain digraphs and give pep talks – all before the bell rings. Teachers’ right hands, pupil cheerleaders and the glue that holds the day together. Not ‘just’ assistants – essential for making a positive difference to the lives of those all around them.”
We couldn’t agree more.
At Horley Infant School, we are proud of our positive local reputation and our strong sense of community. Our vision is centred around:
Although we have nearly 270 children on roll, we pride ourselves on maintaining a warm, family feel. Ofsted recognised us as a good school, and our staff wellbeing survey shows levels of job satisfaction above the national average.
We encourage prospective applicants to visit and experience our welcoming environment first-hand.

2 hours Planning and Preparation (PPA) cover per week), across 38 weeks per
annum. Working days are Monday to Friday from 8.40am to 3.10pm.
Salary Scale: £15,578 - £15,739 pro rata (£24,330 - £25,480 FTE) plus £1,608 for PPA (£27,634 FTE)
