Governors Needed: Shape the Future of Our School

Role: School Governor (Volunteer)

Location: Alexandra Park Junior School in Oldham

Commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours per half term

At Alexandra Park Junior School, we believe every child deserves the best start in life. Our Governing Body plays a crucial role in making that happen. We are currently looking for dedicated, community-minded individuals to join our team and help us drive the school toward excellence.


What's involved?

● Attending regular LGB meetings (four per year, usually held on Wednesday evenings from 4pm).

● Taking part in discussions and decisions on the school's outcomes, curriculum, and policies.

● Being engaged and well-prepared for discussions

● Providing supportive challenge to leaders and asking probing questions

● Contributing to strategic planning and decision making

● Promoting the school’s interests within the local community


Who Are We Looking For?

You don’t need to be an education expert or even a parent. We value diverse perspectives and are looking for people who can bring:

● A Critical Friend approach: The ability to ask constructive questions and support and challenge school leaders.

● Professional Skills: While not essential, we currently have a particular interest in individuals with experience in Education, Health and Safety, SEND, Data Analysis

● Commitment: The willingness to attend four meetings per year and visit the school occasionally.
