37 hours per week

52 weeks (flexible working during school holidays)

Salary – £32,597 to £37,280 p.a.

 

              

The Role

We are looking to recruit an Operational Safeguarding Lead, working alongside the DS and Learning Mentor Team to provide a complementary service to the leadership, teachers and other staff.  The role involves leading on areas related to: safeguarding of pupils, which may include holding meetings with parents and professionals throughout the year, as well as following up and acting on all immediate concerns; attendance of pupils, including working alongside families to improve attendance and following local authority procedures; and addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential.

Safeguarding at Brooksward is a team approach; the successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders and other agencies to ensure the best for our pupils.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to write clear reports and provide feedback to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • empathy and good listening skills
  • ability to work on his/her own initiative and as part of a team
  • ability to lead difficult conversations centred on what is best for pupils
  • that he/she is committed, flexible and well organised
  • computer literacy
  • commitment to further professional training and development
  • a willingness to be flexible with working hours in order to respond to the school’s needs
  • significant successful experience working as part of a team to keep children safe

This role also involves visiting pupils who are not in school and attending meetings across the Milton Keynes area, therefore a willingness to travel independently, whether by car or public transport, is essential.
