About this Role

Working hours: Full-time

Pay Scale: Main Pay Scale

Contract type: Fixed Term until 31/08/2027 in the first instance

Are you ready to inspire young learners at the very start of their school journey?

St John the Baptist CE Primary School & Nursery is a small, welcoming village school set at the heart of its community. With our children genuinely at the centre of everything we do, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated EYFS/KS1 teacher to join our friendly and supportive team.

Our school is known for its warm, family atmosphere, strong relationships and nurturing Christian ethos, underpinned by our core values of Love, Hope and Respect. We are immensely proud of our Outstanding Nursery and Early Years provision (Ofsted 2019) and the calm, inclusive environment we provide for children aged 2–11.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to teach a mixed-age EYFS/KS1 class, working with inquisitive, kind and motivated children who love learning. You will have the chance to shape early learning experiences, inspire curiosity and creativity, and help children flourish both academically and personally.

You will be supported by an experienced and passionate staff team who work collaboratively, share best practice and place a strong emphasis on wellbeing and professional development. As part of the Shropshire Church of England Academies Trust, you will also benefit from wider opportunities for collaboration and CPD.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a strong understanding of EYFS and KS1 pedagogy
  • Has a passion for early learning and understands the importance of play, exploration and nurturing relationships
  • Creates a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment that supports children’s emotional wellbeing, encourages curiosity and enables all pupils to thrive
  • Uses assessment effectively to understand each child’s developmental stage, identify next steps in learning and adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to support smooth transitions, consistent practice and positive outcomes for every child
  • Embraces and promotes our Christian vision and values
  • Is reflective, enthusiastic and committed to continual professional development

We can offer you:

  • Delightful, enthusiastic children who are eager to learn
  • A caring, welcoming and supportive school community
  • A strong focus on staff wellbeing and work–life balance
  • The opportunity for teachers to complete PPA time at home
  • High-quality professional development and support
  • Attractive school grounds and excellent outdoor learning opportunities
  • The chance to make a real difference in a school where everyone is known and valued
  • A supportive and engaged Governing Body

Our vision

Our vision is “To be the best we can be, knowing that, ‘with God all things are possible’ (Matthew 19:26)”. We nurture our pupils to flourish educationally, spiritually and morally, ensuring every child feels valued, supported and inspired to achieve their full potential.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged – we would love to show you what makes St John the Baptist such a special place to work.
