Monkshouse Primary Academy is a vibrant,
two-form entry primary school with an attached Nursery. We deliver a curriculum
that is exciting, engaging and inclusive and we aim to provide the best
opportunities for teaching and learning which will inspire, motivate and engage
all children.
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious and experienced qualified teacher who holds a SENDCo qualification or is willing to train as a SENDCo. This is a key role within our inclusive and diverse school, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families. The role will be 80% SENDCo with 20% teaching commitment.
Key Responsibilities
·
Lead and manage SEND provision across the
school in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
·
Identify and assess pupils with additional
needs and coordinate appropriate support and interventions.
·
Maintain accurate SEND records, including EHCP
documentation and provision maps.
·
Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure
high-quality, inclusive classroom practice.
·
Support and advise staff on adaptive teaching
strategies and interventions.
·
Liaise effectively with parents, carers,
governors, and external agencies.
·
Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the impact
of interventions.
·
Contribute to safeguarding and the wider
wellbeing of pupils.
·
Promote a culture of inclusion, aspiration,
and achievement for all children.
The Ideal
Candidate Will Have
·
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
·
The National Award for SEN Coordination (or
willingness to complete it within the required timeframe).
·
Successful teaching experience within a
primary setting.
·
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
and inclusive teaching strategies.
·
Excellent communication, leadership, and
organisational skills.
·
A child-centred approach and commitment to
inclusive education.
·
Experience of working with pupils with a range
of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH.
