About this Role

Hanley St Luke’s is a Church of England Christian school part of Three Spires Trust serving a number of schools across the Midlands. Both the trust and our academy are under the umbrella of the Church of England Diocese of Lichfield. Our Christian mission and values are at the heart of our service to this wonderful community.

Our school is a large inner city primary academy providing education for all children aged 3 to 11 years. Through high-quality preschool provision, inclusive of parent and toddler sessions, we seek to ensure your child’s educational journey allows them to flourish and thrive.

This role will work 27.5 hours per week, term time only.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo and other professionals to support pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning and develop independence, confidence and positive relationships.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored support for pupils with additional needs, either individually or in small groups
  • Supporting learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
  • Helping pupils to develop communication, social and emotional skills
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to review meetings and support plans
  • Promoting positive behaviour and inclusion at all times

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs
  • Is patient, nurturing and resilient
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Has good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is flexible and responsive to pupils’ needs

Experience of working with children with additional needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH) is desirable but not essential, as training and support will be provided.

We offer:

  • A welcoming and inclusive school community
  • Supportive leadership and a strong team ethos
  • Opportunities for training and professional development
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference to children’s lives
