This post is offered on a fixed term contract to cover the substantive post holders maternity leave, working 4 days a week (0.8fte). Full-time will be considered.
The successful candidate will have the ability to teach KS3 and KS4 Computer Science across all age and ability ranges. You will be an effective classroom teacher with the ability to raise the achievement of all students and be keen to play a full part in the life of the school. You will be proficient in programming to at least GCSE standard.
As Lead Teacher of Computer Science, you will have overall responsibility for the management and leadership of Computer Science in the school. You will work as part of the Science Faculty and benefit from the support and guidance of the Head of Faculty.
The school has had Computer Science on the curriculum since its inception in 2011 and it is a popular and successful subject. All students at KS3 receive an hour of Computing each week and cover a range of topics including Digital Literacy, E-Safety, Hardware & Software and Programming.
We deliver the AQA GCSE Computer Science (8525), using Python as the core programming language to build students’ confidence in coding and logical thinking. The course balances hands-on programming with key theoretical concepts such as algorithms, cyber security, and data structures.
