About this Role

SEN Teacher – EDEN Provision
Start Date: September 2026
Pay Scale: M1–M6
Contract: This is initially a fixed term part time post until 31/08/2027 (0.6 FTE mornings only). Part Time

The Headteacher and Governors of The Catholic School of Saint Gregory the Great are seeking to appoint an exceptional and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our EDEN provision from September 2026.

Our EDEN provision supports children with a range of additional needs, including SEND and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) challenges. This role involves working with small groups of children, with a strong focus on helping them become ready to learn while developing their foundational skills in a nurturing, structured environment.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Has a strong understanding of special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive practice
  • Has extremely high expectations of both behaviour and pupil achievement, including for those with complex needs
  • Is enthusiastic, hardworking and a strong team player
  • Is willing to learn and embody “The St Gregory’s Way” – our trauma-informed, restorative approach to supporting children and working collaboratively as a team
  • Values the importance of building relationships and creating a classroom where children feel safe, supported and ready to succeed
  • Believes that learning should be engaging and enjoyable, and that children thrive when they are challenged, nurtured and inspired

We are committed to educating the whole child and are seeking someone who understands and respects the diverse needs of our pupils, while valuing the distinctive ethos of our Catholic school.

What we offer:

  • A supportive and forward-thinking Trust
  • A strong, collaborative team with a genuine sense of belonging
  • A wellbeing offer that is actively lived out in practice, not just a statement
  • Calm, respectful and engaged children
  • Supportive and committed families

The successful candidate will:

  • Contribute fully to the values, aims and ethos of the school
  • Have experience working with children with SEND, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), using specialist strategies to support learning and development
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across the curriculum, with lessons that are carefully adapted and accessible for all learners
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and support children, colleagues and families
  • Work collaboratively with a range of professionals to secure the best outcomes for vulnerable pupils
  • Be fully supportive of the ethos of our Catholic school (you do not need to be a practising Catholic)
  • Be willing to take on additional responsibilities and contribute to the wider life of the school

Please note that, in line with safer recruitment procedures, we do not accept CVs.

As part of our due diligence, we will carry out online searches on shortlisted candidates. This may include (but is not limited to) Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google. Any concerns arising may be discussed prior to or during interview. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact our Business Manager, Mrs Claire Harte, on 01242 513659 or email sbm@st-gregorygreat.gloucs.sch.uk.

We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of our community. We are an equal opportunities employer and ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and without discrimination.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.
