About this Role

Class Tutor

35 hours per week | 8:30am – 4:00pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an existing member of staff to apply for the role of Class Tutor, commencing in September 2026.

This varied and rewarding position involves teaching and supporting pupils while sharing responsibility for a class with the newly appointed Deputy Principal for 2.5 days per week. The role will also include providing cover across the school to support operational needs as required.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, personalised education and support for pupils with a range of needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering personalised learning programmes, interventions and enrichment activities tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Delivering targeted interventions in areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication, social skills and language development.
  • Establishing positive and constructive relationships with pupils, adapting approaches to meet individual needs and circumstances.
  • Monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress, attainment and engagement, providing regular feedback and contributing to school tracking systems.
  • Supporting pupils both within and outside of their usual learning environment, ensuring continuity of education and learning.
  • Promoting high expectations, positive behaviour and pupil participation, while encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own learning and conduct.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, schools, healthcare professionals and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Leading and contributing to discussions with parents and carers regarding pupil progress, wellbeing and support needs.
  • Supporting transitions and maintaining effective communication with pupils'.
  • Using initiative to adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils' educational, emotional and health needs.
  • Supporting the effective use of ICT and learning resources to enhance pupil engagement and independence.
  • Planning lessons, evaluation and continuous improvement of teaching, learning and intervention programmes.

The successful candidate will be a flexible, proactive and reflective practitioner who is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing. They will demonstrate a strong understanding of child development, have the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and be passionate about helping every pupil achieve their full potential.

The post holder will be expected to uphold and promote the school's safeguarding responsibilities and comply with all school policies relating to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, equality and data protection. A commitment to ongoing professional development and contributing positively to the wider ethos and aims of the Trust is essential.

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
