About this Role
We are seeking a motivated and practical Science Technician to support teaching and learning within our Science department.
This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a practical, laboratory-based environment and supporting young people to succeed. You will play a vital part in ensuring lessons run smoothly by preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and helping to create safe, engaging learning spaces.
The Role
As a Science Technician, you will:
- Support pupils during practical science lessons under the direction of teaching staff
- Prepare, organise, and maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for lessons
- Ensure laboratories and preparation areas are clean, safe, and well organised
- Assist with health and safety procedures and promote positive behaviour
- Manage stock, storage, and basic record keeping, including chemicals and consumables
- Carry out routine equipment checks, maintenance, and simple repairs
- Ensure compliance with COSHH and other relevant safety regulations
- Provide general administrative and practical support to the Science department
- Support practical assessments and examinations where required
Training and Support
We recognise the specialist and varied nature of this role. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, including relevant health and safety, COSHH, and technician training, to enable you to develop confidence and skills across all areas.
