The Role

As Headteacher, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the academy and leading a culture of ambition, excellence and care. Working closely with the Trust, Local Governing Board and wider partners, you will ensure outstanding teaching and learning, robust safeguarding, and a positive, nurturing environment where pupils and staff thrive.

You will:

  • Provide clear, inspirational leadership and a compelling vision for the academy
  • Lead and develop staff through collaboration, professional development and shared accountability
  • Drive high-quality teaching and learning across all primary phases
  • Champion safeguarding, child protection and pupil wellbeing
  • Use data, self-evaluation and research to secure continuous school improvement
  • Manage resources strategically to maximise impact and sustainability
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, governors, the Trust and external agencies
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion across the school community

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an experienced and values-led leader who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status and a recognised degree
  • Has significant and successful senior leadership experience within a school
  • Has a proven track record of leading whole-school improvement with measurable impact
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • Is confident in leading safeguarding, child protection and inclusion
  • Has experience of Ofsted, school self-evaluation and development planning
  • Leads with integrity, resilience and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for all pupils

About the School

SAIL (Salisbury Academy for Inspiration Learners) is a day specialist provider of education in Salisbury, Wiltshire for children and young people aged from 4 to 19 years who have a diagnosis of Autism or an SEMH profile.

We are a growing school which opened in September 2023 and currently have around 110 students. Our aim is to build safe, independent lives for the Autistic and SEMH population through a process of understanding, support, and enablement. We personalise each child’s curriculum, care, and therapeutic package to support them to achieve and experience success and independence.

About the Trust

Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education. We operate 16 academies in Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles. At the heart of those values and principles is a belief in our young people and a determination to support them to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become the successful citizens for today and all of their tomorrows.
