About this Role

Student Support Mentor

ConnectMAT | Grade 4 | Based at Wellfield School

37 hours per week | Term time only

Wellfield School is seeking a caring, committed and organised Student Support Mentor to support our Children in Care (CiC) in achieving positive educational, social and emotional outcomes.

Working closely with the Safeguarding Officer, you will act as the main link between the school, Virtual School, Social Care and other agencies, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive. You will coordinate Personal Education Plans (PEPs), attend multi-agency meetings, provide one-to-one and small group interventions, monitor progress, promote attendance and wellbeing, and build strong relationships with students, families and professionals.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with vulnerable young people (experience with LAC children is desirable).
  • Can build positive, professional relationships with students and families.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for young people.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in education, childcare, youth work, social care or a related field.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above or equivalent).

Connect Multi-Academy Trust is legally obligated to process a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before making appointments to relevant posts. The DBS check will reveal both spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and bind-overs as well as pending prosecutions, which aren't 'protected' under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 and check to establish that a person is not barred from 'regulated activity' as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.

Please note that we operate a probationary period of 6 months across all jobs in the Trust (see attached policy for further details).  You will receive a comprehensive induction to support you to successfully pass your probation.
