About this Role

Salary pro rata £22,254 - £22,656

Monday - Friday (37 hours per week), Term Time Only (39 weeks per year)

Join our dedicated team at Buxton Community School as a Cook, where you’ll play a key role in providing nutritious, high‑quality meals for our students and staff. We’re looking for someone with a passion for good food, excellent kitchen standards, and a friendly, positive attitude. In this busy school environment, you’ll help plan and prepare daily menus, maintain a clean and safe workspace, and contribute to a welcoming dining experience that supports the wellbeing of our whole school community. The successful candidate will:

Lead the preparation, cooking and delivery of high‑quality, nutritious meals across two busy kitchens.
Maintain full compliance with food safety, allergen management, HACCP procedures and all statutory / school requirements.
Support, supervise and motivate catering staff, contributing to training, task allocation and high standards of service.
Manage stock, portion control and waste effectively to support cost‑efficient kitchen operations.
Uphold excellent hygiene, health & safety practices and contribute to a positive, welcoming dining experience for students.
