About this Role

You will be assisting in the teaching and learning of food technology by helping to support students in their learning, maintaining a safe and clean environment and assisting the preparation and presentation of student work.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

Practical preparation - including materials, equipment and stock (ordering and ensuring availability)
Support teachers in lessons as appropriate
Safe and efficient storage of equipment
Maintain equipment in good order - reporting faults for other colleagues to make repairs or replace
Cleaning of equipment/work areas
Ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to
Use supplies resourcefully
Work with teachers to help facilitate learning experiences. Including doing demonstrations where appropriate
Help organise the use of the display space within the Faculty and contribute to displays which celebrate achievement and inspire students
Undertake the role of assisting the teacher if required to do so
Admin functions such as ordering and photocopying
Flexible approach towards working times via agreement with the department lead with mutual consent

We ideally want:

Qualifications relating to food and catering
Experience in working within the catering industry or schools
Experience in food technology specific techniques, skills and methodology
Excellent communication skills
Professional, organised and able to work on own initiative
