About this Role

Are you a Senior Leader  or experienced practitioner who wants to make a real difference?

We're currently seeking an Assistant Headteacher to join the Senior Leadership Team at Knowleswood Primary School —  we are looking for an aspiring leader who is ready to roll up their sleeves, inspire and motivate a team of dedicated staff, and help shape the future of our youngest learners.

Knowleswood Primary School is on a journey of continued improvement and we are determined to give our children the excellent education they deserve.  To help us do this, we are looking for a strong, passionate Assistant Headteacher with a wealth of relevant experience to develop and lead our Early Years and Key Stage 1 phases.  This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to play a key role in strengthening teaching, raising expectations and ensuring our youngest pupils develop the confidence, language and early literacy skills they need to succeed.

Our school is located within a vibrant, diverse and determined community in Bradford, proudly part of Exceed Academies Trust — a values-led family of schools known for collaboration, inclusion and ambitious improvement across the city.   We’re a school with heart, grit and great potential, and we’re looking for our next inspirational leader.

Knowleswood Primary School is entering an exciting stage of its journey and we are committed to ensuring quality teaching and learning, raising outcomes and nurturing confident, curious learners.  We want to create a school culture where every child sees themselves as valued, supported and capable; we recognise that this requires strong home-school partnerships and communication and as such, we are dedicated to building meaningful, trusting relationships with our families so that together we can remove barrierscelebrate successes and open every possible door for our children.

If you would like to know more about our school, then please visit our website at www.knowleswoodacademy.co.uk.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in the strategic leadership of the school
  • Possess exceptional skills and experience within Early Years/KS1 and be able to drive rapid and sustained improvement
  • Lead and develop high-quality teaching and learning
  • Help drive improvements in standards and pupil outcomes
  • Use pupil progress information to inform interventions and school improvement
  • Bring strong leadership, organisation and communication skills

Most importantly, we want someone who believes that every child deserves the very best start in life.

We can offer:

  • Children who will make you smile every day - Our pupils are full of personality, curiosity and potential
  • A dedicated staff team with additional support from a committed Trust, and experienced senior leaders
  • Real opportunities to grow as a leader - Through Exceed Academies Trust, you will have access to high-quality professional development
  • A culture that values wellbeing - We are committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance and have a range of tools to support wellbeing

If you are a talented leader who thrives on challenge and wants to be part of a team determined to transform outcomes for children, we would love to hear from you.  We would encourage any interested candidates to visit our school setting.  In order to do so, please contact Rachael Hughes (Office Manager) on 01274 778177  to make the necessary arrangements.

Exceed Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to related online content checks, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025.  All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check as well as successful completion of a probationary period.

Exceed Academies Trust strives to be an employer of choice.  We are an inclusive and diverse multi academy trust and ultimately, our aim is to employ a workforce that reflects the communities it serves.  We are committed to achieving a balanced workforce at all levels, whilst ensuring that no individual is disadvantaged or treated less favourably.  We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, faiths and ethnicities and will ensure a fair recruitment process without discrimination, in compliance with the Equality Act 2010.
