SEND 1:1 TEACHING ASSISTANT
At the heart of our
school are our values: Perseverance, Forgiveness, Kindness, Gratitude,
Truthfulness and Wisdom. These are not just words on a page—they are lived and
seen every day in our classrooms, playgrounds and wider school life. They shape
the way we learn, the way we treat one another and the way our children grow
into thoughtful, compassionate individuals.
We are a school where
relationships matter, creating a warm and welcoming community for children,
staff and families. Our inclusive environment helps every child feel safe,
valued and confident to succeed.
Our inspirational staff
provide an ambitious, engaging education that fosters a love of learning and
helps every child achieve their best. We place a great importance on nurturing
individual talents, encouraging children to embrace new opportunities with
confidence and curiosity.
As one of Wokingham’s newest schools, we are
fortunate to have excellent facilities that enhance both learning and

UNDERSTANDING THE SPECIFIC ROLE
You will work in a
dedicated 1:1 role supporting a pupil with Special Educational Needs and/or
disabilities (SEND). This may include working closely with pupils with a range
of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD and physical or communication
difficulties.
Your role will involve supporting learning across the curriculum, particularly in core areas such as English and Maths, as well as delivering personalised interventions and adapting tasks to meet individual needs. This may include using visual timetables, sensory strategies, communication tools and structured routines to support engagement and independence.
You will also support pupils’ emotional wellbeing through regulation strategies, provide pastoral and personal care where needed, and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment. Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils is essential, alongside maintaining high expectations, consistency and a calm, caring approach. Flexibility, initiative and a positive, engaging manner are key, as well as strong questioning, observation and communication skills to support pupils’ progress and development.
You will need to build strong relationships with pupils, have the highest expectations for them and be kind and caring. Flexibility is needed and a fun and slightly playful approach works, as well as being consistent and reliable. Your questioning must be strong.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced criminal records check.
