Join Our Team as a Cover Supervisor – Build Your Future in Education

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisor to join our vibrant school community. This is a full-time position—perfect for someone who enjoys working with young people and may be exploring a future career in teaching or looking to reignite their journey back into education.

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining high-quality learning during teacher absence. You’ll help students maximise their potential, keep lessons purposeful and engaging, and contribute to the smooth running of the school day. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable classroom experience within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

As part of our student support team, you will:
• Work directly with students aged 11–16 (Key Stages 3 and 4)
• Confidently liaise with students, teachers and support staff
• Bring enthusiasm, resilience and a positive presence to the classroom
• Hold high expectations and a genuine desire to help young people succeed

Why The Hemel Hempstead School?
Set on a beautiful site in the Boxmoor area, we are a popular, oversubscribed school with excellent road, rail and bus links to London. Our 2022 Ofsted inspection praised our strong values—Responsibility, Respect, Relationships, Reflection and Resilience—highlighting how these shape the confident, capable young people we nurture.

With over 250 students in our thriving Sixth Form and 217 students in each year group, we are growing and investing in our future. Our facilities include world-class sporting provision, and a brand-new music, languages and science centre, with further developments on the horizon.

If you’re passionate about education, eager to support young people, and excited to grow as a professional, this role could be the perfect next step.

Join us—and help shape the future with us.

If you are interested in joining us at this exciting time, further details and an application form is available from HR@scholarseducationtrust.co.uk or on 01727 734424.

Diversity: Scholars’ Education Trust is fully committed to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion.  We want to attract and retain the very best staff in all areas of the trust, ensuring our staff body reflects the diversity of our students and local community.

Closing date: 12th December 2025 at 9am

Interview: Wednesday 17th December 2025

We reserve the right to make an appointment before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged.

Scholars’ Education Trust is an equal opportunities employer. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Declaration of criminal offences

The trust is required to give you the opportunity to voluntarily declare convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings that are not ‘protected’ as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020). You will be provided with a criminal self-declaration form by the school if you are shortlisted for the post. All posts in schools are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If you are appointed you will be required to have an up to date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate. The existence of a criminal background does not automatically mean that you cannot be appointed but it may do so.
