About this Role

About Bhylls Acre

Nestled on the Staffordshire border of Wolverhampton, Bhylls Acre Primary School is a vibrant and nurturing setting where every child is encouraged to flourish. Our vision is for all pupils to achieve their full potential in a happy, supportive environment. We live by our core values of respect, kindness, honesty, perseverance, positivity, and teamwork—values that shape both our pupils and our staff. At Bhylls Acre, you’ll find a school community that celebrates individuality, fosters growth, and works together to ensure every child feels valued and inspired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a cheerful, inclusive atmosphere for children during both morning (7:15–8:45) and afternoon (15:25–17:40) sessions, helping them feel safe and happy from the moment they arrive.
  • Plan and deliver a variety of enjoyable activities that encourage children to explore, play, and build friendships.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious breakfast items in the morning and tasty snacks in the afternoon, supporting healthy routines for all pupils.
  • Provide attentive care, including administering first aid when needed, and ensuring every child’s wellbeing is prioritised at all times.

We welcome applications from candidates interested in either the morning, afternoon, or both sessions,  subject to suitable cover being secured for both shifts.  The salary and hours information published within the advert is based on both the morning and afternoon session, a total of 18.75 hours. Please add your preference for sessions within your application form; hours and salary will be pro-rata accordingly.

About you:

We welcome applicants who are committed to making a difference and who thrive in a collaborative, child-centred environment. If you are approachable, flexible, and eager to support children’s development, you will fit right in with our team.

 We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children aged 4–11 in a play, childcare, or primary education setting, or similar relevant experience.
  • A Level 2 qualification in childcare (or equivalent), with a sound understanding of what makes for excellent, inclusive childcare that meets a range of needs.
  • Awareness of health and safety and good hygiene practices, ensuring a safe and clean environment for all.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting young learners.

What we offer

At Bhylls Acre, we believe our staff are our greatest asset. We are committed to supporting your professional journey and wellbeing, ensuring you feel valued every step of the way.

 Benefits of Joining Our Team:

  • Ongoing investment in your professional development, with opportunities to learn and grow in your role.
  • A warm, supportive, and friendly team where collaboration and kindness are at the heart of everything we do.
  • Access to lovely facilities and a beautiful outdoor area, providing a wonderful environment for both staff and children.
  • The daily reward of working with happy, polite children who are eager to learn and play.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) clearance is required for this role.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is eligible for an enhanced DBS check including a Children's Barring List Check. If you are barred from working with children you are breaking the law if you apply for this post.
