Aldercar High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Humanities to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the next chapter of a well-established secondary school at the heart of its community.

About the Role

You will deliver a broad, engaging and well-structured Humanities curriculum across KS3 and KS4, inspiring students and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

You will:

• Plan and teach high-quality, inclusive Humanities lessons
• Use assessment effectively to drive progress and raise achievement
• Contribute to curriculum development within the Humanities department
• Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement and aspiration
• Support whole-school priorities, including improving attendance, culture and outcomes over time
• Take part in key events such as Parents' Evenings and Open Evenings
• Build positive relationships with families, partner schools and external organisations

This role is not about quick fixes, but about making a sustained and meaningful difference to students' life chances through excellent classroom practice.

Pastoral Responsibilities

As a Form Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting students' personal development and wellbeing. You will:

• Monitor progress, attendance and behaviour
• Deliver elements of the PSHE programme
• Work closely with the Student Support team
• Build strong relationships with students and their families

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a teacher who:

• Places young people and their life chances at the centre of their work
• Brings energy, creativity and high expectations to the classroom
• Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and effective teaching practice
• Has experience teaching Humanities across KS3 and KS4 (or is ready to develop this as an ECT)
• Uses data effectively to support progress
• Builds positive, respectful relationships with students, staff and families
• Is organised, adaptable and committed to ongoing professional development
• Champions inclusion and has a commitment to supporting all learners, including those with SEND and disadvantage

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in a Humanities-related subject
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
