About this Role

Site Operative

Infinity Academies Trust
Full time – 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Infinity Academies Trust is seeking to appoint an energetic, practical and motivated Site Operative to join our team, helping us to ensure our schools remain safe, welcoming and purposeful environments for children, staff and visitors.

This role offers the opportunity to support three schools within the Trust:

  • Leadenham CE Primary Academy – Main Rd, Leadenham, Lincoln LN5 0QB
  • St Peter’s at Eastgate CofE Infant School – Greetwell Gate, Lincoln LN2 4AW

Because the post covers multiple sites, a full driving licence and the ability to travel between locations is essential.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, cares about the appearance and safety of our schools, and reflects the high expectations we have of our pupils. Some IT skills are desirable; however, full training will be provided for all systems, including our electronic health & safety compliance system, Every.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes a wide range of duties relating to premises and grounds maintenance, security, Health & Safety, and day‑to‑day site operations, including line management of the cleaning team. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the security of buildings and grounds
  • Carrying out daily internal and external site checks
  • Responding to emergencies and assisting with general site enquiries
  • Keeping paths and walkways clear of snow and ice, including gritting when required

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Proactively identifying and addressing minor maintenance issues
  • Reporting major issues to the Operations Team
  • Performing basic repairs, including:
    • Carpentry: fitting boards, easing doors, small fencing repairs
    • Plumbing: fixing leaks, unblocking toilets, maintaining drains
    • Electrical: replacing plug fuses, bulbs and light tubes
    • General: patch plastering, floor repairs, graffiti removal, replacing fixtures, minor glazing, path and surface repairs
  • Operating heating systems to maintain appropriate temperatures and reporting any faults
  • Carrying out internal and external decorating

Grounds Maintenance

  • Clearing litter, debris and fallen leaves
  • Ensuring shrub areas, grass, courtyards and outdoor spaces are kept tidy
  • Basic upkeep beyond the grounds maintenance contract

Compliance & Record Keeping

  • Completing and supporting Risk Assessments
  • Using Every to record PPM, compliance checks and defects (training provided)
  • Maintaining COSHH-compliant chemical stores and ensuring COSHH documentation is accessible
  • Overseeing contractors and ensuring safe, compliant working practices

General Duties

  • Moving furniture and equipment as required
  • Receiving deliveries and ensuring correct storage
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of signage, name boards, windows and the cycle canopy
  • Ensuring safe storage and care of all equipment provided

What We’re Looking For

We would love to hear from you if you are:

  • Practical, reliable and proactive
  • Able to work across multiple sites
  • Someone who takes pride in keeping environments safe and welcoming
  • Confident in basic maintenance tasks (or willing to learn)
  • Committed to high standards and safe working practices
  • Supportive of our Trust values and the positive culture across our schools

Safeguarding

Coleby, Leadenham, and St Peter’s Primary Academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
