About this Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and compassionate Attendance and Wellbeing Officer to join Baildon Glen Primary School on a fixed-term contract for 24 months. This is a key role within our school, supporting pupils, families and staff to promote excellent attendance, safeguard wellbeing and remove barriers to learning.

About the Role

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a central role in improving attendance and punctuality across the school. You will build positive relationships with pupils and families, identify barriers to attendance, and implement effective strategies to ensure every child can access high-quality education.

You will also contribute to the school’s safeguarding and pastoral support systems, providing early intervention and wellbeing support for pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a whole-school culture of high attendance and punctuality
  • Monitor, track and analyse pupil attendance using the school MIS (Arbor)
  • Produce regular attendance reports and identify trends, patterns and areas of concern
  • Carry out first-day absence calls and follow up with parents/carers promptly
  • Undertake home visits and support families to overcome barriers to attendance
  • Work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team to implement attendance strategies
  • Liaise with external agencies and support services where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to attendance panels and legal processes where required
  • Support pupils’ wellbeing through targeted interventions (1:1 and small group work)
  • Contribute to safeguarding procedures, ensuring vulnerable pupils are supported effectively
  • Promote positive relationships with families and engage them as partners in their child’s education

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong understanding of the needs of children and families
  • Be skilled in building positive, professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Be confident in analysing data and using it to inform action
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection
  • Be calm, resilient and able to manage sensitive situations effectively
  • Have experience of working with children, families or within a school or similar setting
  • Be confident using ICT systems, including school MIS
  • Hold a full driving licence and be willing to undertake home visits
  • Be willing to undertake designated safeguarding lead training
