We are a 1.5 form entry school, with around 350 pupils (which includes our dedicated nursery provision), and we benefit from working in a first-class learning environment, including a purpose-built school building and a range of exceptional outside play and learning environments.

Assistant Headteacher key responsibilities:

  • School Culture & Behaviour: Foster a positive school life, promote high standards of behaviour, and ensure professionalism across the school.
  • Teaching, Curriculum & Assessment: Support high-quality teaching, ensure a broad and structured curriculum, and lead on areas such as Assessment, Data, and Pupil Premium.
  • School Improvement: Contribute to the development and implementation of school improvement strategies, ensuring effective systems and policies.
  • Staff Management & Development: Manage and support middle leaders and staff, providing coaching and professional development opportunities.
  • Governance & Partnerships: Work with the governing board and external partners to ensure the school meets all regulatory requirements and drives educational outcomes.

What we are looking for:

  • Qualified Teacher Status with at least 4 years of teaching experience in a primary school, including working with children with additional needs (e.g. SEND, EAL, pupil premium).
  • Recent leadership and management experience, with a proven ability in line management and staff development.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum, pedagogy, national policies, and classroom management strategies.
  • Demonstrable impact on student learning outcomes and a commitment to improving educational attainment.
  • Experience in providing effective pastoral support and responding to safeguarding concerns.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Collaborative approach to working with colleagues, showing empathy and openness to feedback.
  • Ability to model and promote high-quality teaching and learning practices.
