Salary: Scale S01 £33,231 to £34,118 (actual term time salary) 39 weeks.

Reporting to: Deputy Headteacher

Supervision: Cover Teachers/Supervisors

Lister Community School is seeking an organised, proactive, and highly effective Cover Manager to coordinate the school's daily cover arrangements and support the smooth running of teaching and learning.

This is a key operational role requiring excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will oversee staff cover arrangements, manage Cover Supervisors, coordinate duty rotas, and ensure that staffing requirements are met efficiently and effectively across the school. Ypu will be required tos tat at 6:30am to arrange cover and the time is not negotiable. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise and manage daily cover arrangements for teaching staff using the school's management systems.
  • Coordinate internal and external cover, including agency staff where required.
  • Lead and manage the Cover Supervisor team, including recruitment, training, performance management, and day-to-day support.
  • Produce and communicate daily cover schedules, room changes, and staffing updates.
  • Monitor staff absences and maintain accurate attendance and cover records.
  • Prepare reports on staff absence and cover costs, supporting effective budget management.
  • Work as a Cover Supervisor when required to ensure continuity of learning.
  • Manage duty rotas and ensure appropriate supervision is in place during break and lunchtime periods.
  • Liaise effectively with school leaders, teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Support the school's commitment to high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and inclusion.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience of coordinating staff, schedules, or operational processes.
  • The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Experience using school management information systems (such as Arbor) or similar databases.
  • The confidence to make decisions and solve problems independently.
  • A commitment to supporting excellent outcomes for students.
