We are seeking to appoint an outstanding KS1 teacher. Our priority is to find someone who has a passion for teaching, loves working with children, has a strong ethic that is matched with an equally strong sense of fun. The post holder must at all times carry out their
responsibilities within the spirit of the school and trust policies and within
the framework of legislation relating to academies and education, with
particular regard to the statutory responsibilities of the trust and the governing
body of the school.
The job description should be read alongside the range of
professional duties of teachers as set out the ‘teachers' pay and conditions’ document. The post-holder will be expected to undertake
duties in line with the professional standards for qualified teachers and
uphold the professional code of the Department for Education (DfE).
The specific duties and responsibilities include but are
not limited to:

Plan
and teach lessons to the classes they are assigned to teach within the context
of the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work.
·
Assess,
monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of
assigned pupils.
·
Participate
in arrangements for preparing pupils for external examinations.
·
Contribute
to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s policies,
practices and procedures in such a way as to support the school’s values and
vision.
·
Work
with others on curriculum and/or pupil development to secure co-ordinated
outcomes.
·
Subject
to paragraph 52.7 of the STPCD, supervise and so far as practicable teach any
pupils where the person timetabled to take the class is not available to do so.
·
Promote
the safety and well-being of pupils.
·
Maintain
good order and discipline among pupils.
·
Direct
and supervise support staff assigned to them and, where appropriate, other
teachers.
·
Contribute
to the recruitment, selection, appointment and professional development of
other teachers and support staff.
·
Deploy
resources delegated to them.
·
Participate
in arrangements for the appraisal and review of their own performance and,
where appropriate, that of other teachers and support staff.
·
Participate
in arrangements for their own further training and professional development
and, where appropriate, that of other teachers and support staff including
induction.
·
Communicate
with pupils, parents and carers.
·
Communicate
with pupils, parents and carers.
·
Be
aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection,
health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all
concerns to an appropriate person.
·
Work
in a flexible way to respond to the needs of the trust and to fulfil other
duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade and role as and when
required.
·
Be
aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all.
·
Appreciate
and support the role of other professionals.
·
Attend
and participate in relevant meetings as required.
·
Contribute
to the overall ethos/work/aims of the trust/schools.
·
Participate
in relevant training, other learning activities and performance management as
required.
·
Team
responsibilities: all staff are considered part of the overall trust team and
may be required to provide assistance to colleagues in other areas from time to
time commensurate with the role, skillset and grade.
The above duties are not exhaustive, and the post holder
may be required to undertake tasks, roles and responsibilities as may
be reasonably assigned to them by the Headteacher/Principal.
The job
description and allocation of particular responsibilities will be kept under
review and may be amended via consultation with individuals, the governing body or board of trustees and/or senior leadership
team as required. Trade union
representation will be welcomed in any such discussions.
