  • Take strategic responsibility for a phase (lower or upper primary) and a core curriculum area
  • Use data intelligently to drive improvement and inform decision‑making
  • Support staff development through coaching, appraisal and professional leadership
  • Promote positive behaviour, strong pastoral care and safeguarding culture

You will also teach, model excellent classroom practice and act as a visible, positive role model for pupils and colleagues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrates high expectations for both academic achievement and behaviour
  • Has a clear understanding of inclusive practice, safeguarding and the primary curriculum (EYFS, KS1 & KS2)
  • Is passionate about social mobility, inclusivity and serving the local community
  • Is resilient, reflective and committed to continual improvement

Leadership experience beyond the classroom and involvement in staff development or coaching is desirable.

About the School

GAIL is a specialist school for 200 pupils aged 4-16 opening at the start of 2027, with pupils phasing into the school across three years.

The school’s designation is Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD) and will cater for autistic pupils, those with speech and language differences, SEMH and those with learning differences in their cognitive profiles.

The school is based in the Wheatridge area of Gloucestershire and is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built eco-friendly facility. Every corner of the school building has been designed with our pupils in mind—from the sustainable materials used in construction to the sensory-aware acoustics and layouts. It is a space that breathes calm and inspires growth, reflecting our commitment to both our planet and our children.

About the Trust

Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education.  We operate 16 academies in Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.  We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles. At the heart of those values and principles is a belief in our young people and a determination to support them to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become the successful citizens for today and all of their tomorrows.

Our core business is delivering exceptional education for children and young people with a mission to help all pupils aspire to achieve beyond the expectations that others put on them.  We do this through the development of a talented and committed workforce. In order to deliver exceptional opportunities for learning, we need highly motivated staff across all parts of the organisation.

Teachers within Reach South belong to a national community of professionals, and benefit from a wide range of networks and development opportunities across the Trust. In time, our best teachers are able to work across schools, develop specialisms and step up to leadership roles within and beyond their own academy. The Trust provides a strong culture of collaboration and support, together with high expectations for staff and pupils alike.

Those we recruit are able to demonstrate that they share our values, are highly motivated to work with colleagues, within and beyond their school, to continuously develop their skills and pursue professional excellence.
