We are seeking an outstanding and ambitious English and SMSC
Lead Teacher who will be primarily class-based, delivering
high-quality teaching whilst providing strategic leadership for English and
SMSC across the school. Working collaboratively with colleagues across all key
stages, the successful candidate will drive the development of a coherent,
ambitious and inclusive English curriculum, ensuring clear progression,
sequential learning and the development of communication, literacy and language
skills for all pupils. They will oversee curriculum planning, assessment and
subject improvement, ensuring that learning builds systematically from one
stage to the next and meets the diverse needs of our learners. As SMSC Lead,
they will map and coordinate opportunities for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social
and cultural development across the curriculum, embedding the school’s values
and supporting pupils to flourish as confident, respectful and active members
of their community. This role is central to our vision of providing an
inclusive, nurturing environment where every pupil is supported to achieve
their full potential within our specialist setting for children and young
people with Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD).
Interviews will be held at The Springfields Academy in Wiltshire. We recognise that this is further away than GAIL Academy and may present a travel challenge for some candidates. Gloucestershire Academy for Inspirational Learning is a specialist school for 200 pupils aged 4-16 opening at the start of 2027, with pupils phasing into the school across three years.
The school’s designation is Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD) and will cater for autistic pupils, those with speech and language differences, SEMH and those with learning differences in their cognitive profiles.
The school will be based in the Wheatridge area of Gloucestershire in a brand-new purpose-built building with outstanding facilities specifically tailored for SEND learners.
