We are seeking an exceptional and motivated Assistant Principal: Teaching  &  Learning to join our senior leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our school, driving excellence in teaching and learning, and supporting the strategic vision of the leadership team.

About the Role

The Assistant Principal: Teaching  &  Learning will work closely with the Principal and Vice Principal to provide strong, strategic leadership across the school. You will contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s vision, ensuring high standards of education, behaviour, and achievement for all pupils.

This role combines leadership with a teaching commitment, allowing you to model outstanding classroom practice while influencing whole-school improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & School Management

  • Support the Principal in communicating and delivering the school’s vision
  • Contribute to the formulation of school aims, policies, and improvement strategies
  • Lead the day-to-day management of the school
  • Monitor and evaluate progress towards key objectives
  • Effectively manage staff, resources, and budgets

School Culture & Behaviour

  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and enriching school environment
  • Uphold high expectations for behaviour through clear systems and routines
  • Foster a culture of professionalism among staff

Teaching, Curriculum & Assessment

  • Drive high-quality teaching and learning across all subjects
  • Ensure delivery of a broad, balanced, and coherent curriculum
  • Lead effective assessment practices to support pupil progress
  • Develop strong curriculum leadership across departments

Inclusion & SEND

  • Champion inclusive practices for all pupils, including those with SEND
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and the SEND Code of Practice
  • Work collaboratively with families and external professionals

Organisational Leadership & School Improvement

  • Oversee effective systems, safeguarding, and risk management
  • Lead school improvement strategies that are impactful and sustainable
  • Ensure efficient use of resources and continuous improvement

Staff Development & Leadership

  • Line manage and develop middle leaders
  • Lead performance management and appraisal processes
  • Promote high-quality professional development for all staff

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community
  • Develop partnerships with external organisations and stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with governors and other schools
