35 hours a week (8.30am - 4.00pm) 

 Term-time only + 5 Training days and 15 days to be on call in the holidays 

Permanent Contract 

Actual Salary £27,721 - £30,267 

 31,537 – £34,434 FTE) CLPT 18-23 

(Salary will be higher if you have over 5 years continuous service)

Vale of Evesham School are seeking to expand our safeguarding team and are recruiting to the new post of Safeguarding Officer, to support our existing team and the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure the highest standards of pupil welfare.  

 If you have a passion to make a positive difference to the lives of our pupils and can bring expertise and continued enthusiasm to our staff body, then we would welcome your application. We are an all-age generic special school that takes pupils from the age of 4 to 18 and in 2023 was graded Good by Ofsted. We are a Specialist School for Cognition and Learning and work with parents/carers, schools and other agencies in our community to share practice.  

 The role requires a dedicated person to meet the high standards in relation to safeguarding practice within school, being one of the initial points of contact for external agencies and providing day to day guidance and support for staff with safeguarding concerns.  To be successful in this post, the role requires extensive safeguarding experience, writing and submitting referrals to Local Authority Children's Services and Early Help assessments, and contributing to CP and CIN plans. 

 We are looking for someone who: 

  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and is able to communicate effectively with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies.  

  • Has the ability to keep calm and work well under pressure. 

  • Support the DSL, pastoral team and wider staff body with safeguarding concerns 

  • Remains professional at all times & understands the importance of confidentiality. 

  • Understands the varied needs of children as they develop socially and academically 

  • Is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils. 

  • Has experience of working with pupils with complex learning needs within a special school or mainstream, with any age group or transferrable skills from a similar setting. 

  • Has a willingness to learn and take on new ideas.
