We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and skilled Senior Assistant Teacher / Cover Supervisor to join our professional team. The Role

As a Senior Assistant Teacher / Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Cover and supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
  • Deliver high-quality learning activities within an agreed framework.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to provide targeted interventions and support.
  • Assist teachers with planning, preparation and the development of learning resources.
  • Support pupils with a range of needs to access learning and make progress.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, providing detailed feedback.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a purposeful learning environment.
  • Lead, mentor and support Assistant Teachers as required.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and pastoral needs.
  • Foster positive partnerships with parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Contribute to the wider life, ethos and continuous improvement of the school.

What We Are Looking For

  • Has experience working with children and young people, ideally within a SEND environment.
  • Understands the needs of pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and additional learning needs.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Can confidently lead whole-class learning and small group interventions.
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach.
  • Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion and achieving positive outcomes for all pupils.
  • Works effectively as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
  • Has the ability to motivate and inspire pupils to become confident, independent learners.
