About this Role

Humanities Teacher - Geography

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated and forward-thinking Geography teacher who is passionate about providing students with engaging and challenging learning opportunities that allow them to reach their full potential.  Outcomes for students are strong within the faculty and there is exceptional leadership to support you in your role.  As a member of the Humanities Team, an ability to teach other Humanities subjects is desirable.  The successful candidate will join an excellent, established team of dedicated and diligent colleagues.

At Chipping Sodbury School, we aim to inspire every member of our school community to aim for brilliance, fostering an inclusive culture where aspiration, responsibility, respect and integrity enable all to become the very best they can be.

Colleagues should be committed to school improvement and developing strategies which challenge, interest and support all of our students.

You will work within a vibrant team who actively engage in and take responsibility for continuing their own professional learning.  Whether within the school or across the Athelstan Trust, our team are regularly involved in leading research projects and staff professional learning.  This ensures that we are at the forefront of developments in education and has led to many taking on additional responsibilities within Chipping  Sodbury School or moving onto promotions at other institutions.  This is something we really value as a school.

Why work for us?

  • Internal career opportunities
  • Personalised professional development and training
  • Employee assistance scheme
  • Flexible working opportunities and a genuine commitment to family and work/life balance
  • Nationally negotiated cost of living pay
  • Automatic enrolment in the Teachers Pension Scheme
  • Recognition of local government continuous service
  • Cycle to Work Scheme

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 5th May 2026 at 9.00am.  We will aim to hold interviews during the week commencing 5th May.

The Athelstan Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check along with standard pre-employment safeguarding checks. As the role includes working with children, it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Applicants must, therefore, disclose all spent and unspent convictions. References will be sought for shortlisted candidates before interview. Please also be aware that you will be subject to an online check and that you may be questioned about the findings of such a check at your interview.

We are a flexible working employer, and we are willing to make any reasonable adjustments you require during your interview so please ask us.
