About this Role

Newtown Primary School is a vibrant, inclusive and ambitious community where every child is known, valued and supported to thrive. We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team and help drive our school from good to great.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, adaptable leader who can model high expectations, champion inclusion and shape a positive, nurturing culture where children feel safe, confident and ready to learn. You will coach and develop staff across the school, drawing on strong pedagogical knowledge to support high‑quality teaching from EYFS to Year 6.

Rooted in our Trust values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, you will bring emotional intelligence, clarity and ambition to your leadership. You will be visible, approachable and committed to building strong relationships with pupils, staff, families and the wider community.

As part of Cumbria Education Trust, you will benefit from high‑quality professional development, strong peer networks and opportunities for career progression. While your initial deployment will be at Newtown Primary School, you may be required to work across other schools within the Northern Hub.

If you are an inspirational leader with a passion for improving life chances and making a meaningful difference, we would love to hear from you.

If you have the qualities we require, along with the passion and aspirations to contribute to the success of the School and the Trust, we urge you to hit the "Apply" button.

Cumbria Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS disclosure and Barred List checks are required for this post. You should not apply if you are on the Children’s Barred List. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, online searches are carried out on successful candidates.
