Higher Level Teaching Assistant/Associate Tutor (Maternity cover)

Contract: Fixed Term until 18th January 2026

Hours: 32.5 hours, 39 weeks (term time plus one week)

Working pattern: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8.45am - 3.45pm, Wednesday 8.45 - 4.30pm, Friday 8.45 - 3pm

Salary: Pathway 6, £25,696 - £28,410, (FTE £34,314 - £37,938) per annum

Site: Richard Barnes Academy (Fitzwilliam Campus)

If so, we welcome you to apply for the role of HLTA/Associate Tutor at Richard Barnes Academy.

Your role:

As a HLTA/Associate Tutor (maternity cover) at Richard Barnes Academy, you will play a crucial role in improving the learning, progress, and behaviour of our primary aged pupils. You will work closely with teachers, senior leadership, outside agencies, and parents to provide tailored support to the children, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Your responsibilities will include contributing to lesson planning, delivering engaging learning activities, and maintaining a positive and safe learning environment. You will also act as a coach to a group of children, helping them to achieve their full potential. To succeed in this role, you should have a clear understanding of the needs of Alternative Provision students, experience in supporting students with literacy and numeracy, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals, and a commitment to the values of ambition, determination, conviction, and reflection.
