Term Time + 2 weeks (40 weeks per year)

37.5 hours per week

8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

The Role

Watling Academy is seeking a compassionate and experienced School Nurse/Senior Health Professional to provide high-quality medical care and support for our students. This is a key role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of our school community. The successful candidate will be dedicated to promoting a safe and supportive environment, proactively managing first aid provision and working closely with students who have medical needs. They will oversee Health Care Plans, support students with medical requirements and ensure the effective administration of daily nursing care.

The role involves delivering high-quality care and first aid to students, responding effectively to medical needs and ensuring accurate health records are maintained using the Medical Tracker IT system. The safe storage, administration and monitoring of medication will also be a key responsibility. The School Nurse/Senior Health Professional will work closely with students who require additional medical support, liaising with parents, staff and healthcare professionals to ensure their needs are met. They will also coordinate vaccination programmes, lead on health initiatives, and oversee personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPs). Providing first aid training and guidance to staff will be an important part of the role to ensure a high standard of care across the Academy.

Watling Academy is an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ secondary school situated on the western edge of Milton Keynes, encompassing the Whitehouse and Fairfields developments. Opening in September 2020, our school is a new and vibrant learning community for students aged 11-18.
