About this Role

Chaucer Infant and Nursery School

Our school is on an exciting improvement journey. We are proud of the positive progress already made and we are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for all our learners. As part of the Embark family of schools, we are lucky to receive an incredible level of support and together with support from RISE and a strong sense of team spirit, we are working together to shape a bright and successful future for our school community.

The next phase of our journey is about building consistency, strengthening practice and securing sustained improvement. For the right person, this is a challenging but rewarding opportunity to make a real difference.

What are we looking for?

We are looking to appoint a SENDCo for a September 2026 start who will play a key role in strengthening provision and ensuring that pupils with SEND succeed. This role sits at the heart of the school’s improvement work, particularly in early literacy, behaviour and inclusion.

About the role

This role will initially include approximately 2 days SENDCo responsibility (to be confirmed), with the remainder of the role as a class teacher.

As SENDCo, you will:

  • Bring clarity and consistency to SEND systems and provision
  • Strengthen early identification, particularly of underlying SEND needs that impact behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
  • Drive high-quality teaching so that all pupils can access the curriculum
  • Develop staff confidence and practice
  • Work closely with families and external agencies

Who should apply?

We are looking for someone who:

  • Understands strong SEND provision in practice
  • Has experience of improving a range of outcomes for pupils with additional needs
  • Can support and challenge colleagues with credibility
  • Is organised, resilient and able to prioritise
  • Builds strong relationships with staff, families and external partners
  • Is motivated by making a difference in a school that is improving

You may already be a SENDCo or an experienced teacher with a secure knowledge of SEND ready to step into the role for the first time.

What can we provide?

We believe that Chaucer Infant and Nursery school provides a safe and positive workplace environment, where staff feel valued and trusted. As part of this culture, we can offer the following:

  • friendly and enthusiastic children
  • a positive, nurturing atmosphere
  • opportunities for professional development within our school and across our growing trust
  • happy and supportive staff and leaders
  • a close working relationship with our partner Junior school.
  • healthcare and wellbeing support through our partners, Education Mutual
  • employment perks via Embark's benefits and rewards package
