About this Role

“We put the success and happiness of our students at the heart of everything we do”.

North Walsham High School, part of the Enrich Learning Trust, is a small secondary school in Norfolk. We are a rapidly growing school that has a strong community of dedicated staff who live out our vision and put the success and happiness of our students at the heart of everything we do. This is underpinned by our core values of Trust, Resilience, Excellence and Kindness.

We are delighted to share our recent Ofsted report stating North Walsham High School is a "Good" school with "Outstanding" leadership and management. Most pleasingly it states: "At North Walsham High, pupils thrive".

After the promotion of the current post holder we are seeking to appoint an inspirational full time Assistant Headteacher: Character and Culture to help continue drive the school forward and raise standards.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be committed to ensuring students can be happy and successful at school and for the rest of their lives
  • Lead the school's vision for the character education of all students
  • Be responsible for the consistent implementation of the behaviour policy and the continual focus on raising standards
  • To determine, deliver and quality assure the work of the Achievement Leaders and the Pupil Development Team
  • To lead and deliver strategies that continually raise attendance levels
  • Be the safeguarding lead of the school
  • To lead the delivery of an impactful Character and PSHE programme that supports all students
  • Take an active part in CPD which includes regular and deliberate practice

The North Walsham Way (see attached) is at the heart of everything we do. The successful applicant will take on responsibility for the consistent implementation of the North Walsham Way and lead its continued evolution.

Professional development opportunities are plentiful and we are always working hard to be innovative around workload- we want you to have a balanced life and enjoy working with our children! As such, we are proud of our strong, supportive policies on feedback, reporting and behaviour for learning (including centralised detentions) which all aim to support our staff members towards this goal.

Alongside this we have a clear, evidence informed approach to teaching and learning which is supported by our Instructional Coaching programme. This is captured in the North Walsham Approach to Teaching (see attached).

For an informal discussion contact Mr James Gosden (gosdenj@nwhs.uk). We encourage visits to the school prior to application

Enrich Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils and expects all those working at the Trust to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020).
